Everyday Holds the Possibility of a Miracle
I’ve been seeing my client Edith (name changed for privacy), a woman in her 60’s for over a year. She initially came to see me for neck, shoulder, low back and knee pain, associated with past injuries. Most of these issues got better after a series of treatments. Last year we also did a lot of SomatoEmotional Release (SER) work to free her mind/body from the emotional pain she suffered as a child. By the summertime, she was feeling well – pain free, emotionally lighter and more clear and peaceful. She went on vacation and months passed before I heard from her again.
This time when she came to see me she was having terrible pain in her right hamstring insertion point and behind her knee. Her mobility was severely limited. She had trouble walking and bending, which posed a problem, as she needed to take care of a litter of puppies.
She was receiving PT and was on prescription pain medication when she came to see me. I worked to release the soft tissue restrictions in her upper leg, low back and knee. After 3 or 4 sessions she was feeling much better, but not mobile enough yet. She was also suffering from severe fatigue, which was making her recovery more difficult – because she was too tired to even walk and do daily living tasks. After dialoguing with her high self, the part of each of us that knows everything about us, her body told me that it was the prescription pain medication and dehydration that was causing her fatigue. The medication was too much for her system. She stopped taking the medication and instead used Alleve for pain relief (when needed) and increased her water consumption. By the next session, her energy levels were back up and she was able to exercise.
At our last session she said, “Hilary, I need a miracle today!” I asked what kind of miracle she was looking for. She replied, “I have a dog show this weekend and I need to be able to bend and move with ease, with my dogs at the show.” So, out loud I said, “You hear that God? Edith needs a miracle. I offer my hands as a vehicle to create this miracle.” She chuckled and we began our session. At some point during the treatment, the energy moving through and under my hands felt different. I can’t explain the sensation other than it felt like things were being cleaned out, reorganized and woven back together correctly.
When Edith returned for her next session, she said with great joy and emotion, “Thank you. I got my miracle!” She said that she was able to run with 2 of her dogs at the dog show over the weekend. She ran with each of them on both Saturday and Sunday and she had NO PAIN – for the first time in months and one of her dogs won! When she got on the table she told me that she was experiencing some residual tenderness and muscle tightness from all of her activity, but no intense pain.
I feel so blessed to have been able to help her. We asked for a miracle and my hands were indeed used as a tool for the healing she needed.
